SR MARINER - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: Where can I get service for my SR Mariner product?
A: Please send your unit(s) with a brief note describing the problem as well as your daytime phone number to:

SR Instruments, Inc.
Attn: Marine Service
600 Young St.
Tonawanda, NY 14150

We will contact you with an estimate before proceeding and discuss all available options so you can make a well-informed decision.

Q: Do you refurbish older SR Mariner models and what is the cost?

A: Yes, we can refurbish many of the older models. The cost is based upon $40.00 per hour plus any parts, which is the same as our standard repair charges.

Q: Do you have any test procedures that I can do before sending in my unit(s)?

A: Yes, we do have some test procedures available, but not for all units. Depth meters are best tested by a trained service technician or at the factory.

Q: Do you have any parts available for my 20-year-old unit?

A: Many of the instruments we have manufactured since 1973 have components that are incorporated in more recent models or are still available in current production, so we will have many of the needed parts to keep most of your present unit(s) operational. Some of the most common items requested can be found on our Parts page. If you do not find what you are looking for there, please call our service department M-F from 7:30 a.m. -3:30 p.m. Eastern time at (800) 654-6360 extension 109.

Q: I am interested in replacing my old gauge. Would your instruments fit my present openings?

A: If you have one of our older round meters, then our current line will fit the same openings you have. If you do not have an older SR Mariner unit, then check the hole size to ensure that it can accommodate our dimensions of 4.1” diameter for the body and 4.7” for the bezel.

Q:  What is the size of your thru hull?

A: Our thru hull fittings require a 2 1/8” cutout with a 30 degree flange cut to allow the fitting to be flush with the outside of the hull.

Q: What is your thru hull made of?

A: Our thru hull fittings are made from acetal copolymer. The company that actually injects our molds obtains this acetal copolymer from either Hoeschst Celanese (called Celcon M9004) or from Dupont (called Delron).

Q: What is the frequency of your depth transducers?

A: Our depth transducers have a frequency of 160 KHz.

Q: Do you have optional transducers in case I do not wish to go through the hull?

A: All of our standard product transducers can be mounted through the hull with the appropriate fitting or can be mounted on the inside of the hull. If you choose to mount inside the hull, you can use a water box installation or adhere the transducer directly to the hull. Please note that any fillers or cores in your hull will affect the performance of your depth meter.
